‘It Only Started After the Service!’ — The Myth, Explained.

When Something Feels Off — Yes, Tell Us (But Let’s Talk About What That Actually Means)

We always want you to reach out when something doesn’t feel right with your car.
Seriously. Weird noises, funny vibrations, strange smells … whatever it is, don’t ignore it.

Catching little problems early can save you a lot of money (and stress) down the line. That’s what we’re here for… to help before small things turn into big, expensive things.

But… every now and then we get messages like this:

“Ever since you serviced my car, my left headlight isn’t working.”
“My boot latch hasn’t worked since you fixed my brakes.”
“The engine’s leaking since you replaced my wheel bearings.”

And look ….we get it. It’s totally normal to connect the dots.
You brought the car in, something’s changed, so it must be related, right?

But honestly… as mechanics, sometimes it’s hard not to have a bit of a chuckle when those calls come through — because we know we never even touched that area of the car.

What Happens During a Service

When we do a service at Garage 22, we go over your car from top to bottom.
We check your oil, fluids, filters, brakes, tyres, suspension, lights … the works.

If we find something that’s worn, broken, or not quite right, we flag it and let you know. We’ll call, text, or note it on your invoice so you’re in the loop before anything becomes urgent.

But if something happens months later — like a bulb blowing, a new rattle, or a weird clunk … it’s almost never connected to the service.

Cars Are Meant to Be Driven (and Stuff Wears Out)

Your car is full of moving parts … and they don’t all age at the same rate.

Bulbs blow. Latches jam. Bushes, bearings, and seals wear out.
Sometimes you’ve just clocked a few extra thousand K’s and normal wear and tear starts showing up.

That’s why keeping up with regular servicing matters.
It’s not just about oil changes …. it’s about catching that wear and tear before it snowballs into a major repair bill.

When to Call Us (and Why We Want You To)

If your car starts making a new noise or something doesn’t feel right … absolutely get in touch. We’d rather take a quick look and rule it out than have you end up stranded later.

Just keep in mind:
If it’s been a few months (or a few thousand kilometres) since your last visit, that new issue is probably something new, not something we caused.

We’ll still help you sort it … no judgement, no eye-rolls (well, maybe a small internal one). We just want to keep it real and transparent about what’s going on.

We’ll always stand by our work .. and we’ll always do right by our customers.
But cars are machines. They’re built to move, shake, heat up, cool down, and sometimes, things just wear out.

That’s why regular maintenance is key … it keeps your car safe, reliable, and catches the little stuff before it becomes a big headache.

So yes — please call us if something feels off.
Just don’t panic if your boot latch stops working after a brake job 😉

We’ll still help — but odds are, it’s just the universe reminding you it’s time for another check-up.
